Last week, APL attended a presentation by the US Postal Service regarding the potential sale of Allentown's Main Post Office building at 5th and Hamilton Streets.
Currently, the USPS is only considering selling the Allentown building and they want to hear from Allentown residents on the matter. PLEASE WRITE the US POSTAL SERVICE to let them know that we do not want to loose the Main Post Office! This building has been an important part of public life in Allentown for nearly 100 years.
Remember, you can write to the US Postal Service with any thoughts you might have about the potential relocation of their downtown office and the sale of the historic building, you do not have to use our thoughts. But please, if you feel strongly, write in!
The official public comment period closes at the end of April. The US Postal Service will use the letters they receive to aid in their decision regarding relocating and selling the historic post office building. Your thoughts are important!

Dear Ms. Rybicki,
I am writing today to express my grave concern regarding the sale of the Post Office Building in Allentown, Pennsylvania. I would prefer, for community and historical reasons, that the post office building continue to operate as a post office, as the building was designed and intended. This would insure that postal services continue to be easily accessible for the residents of Allentown as well as preserve this very important historic building.
If the Postal Service insists on selling the building and relocating, I will personally fight to have the City place additional protections on the building so that the historic character of the building is preserved. Allentown is experiencing a renaissance, and retaining this building’s character is a critical part of our city’s rebirth.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
