Wood Window Repair Workshop

10.00

We’re bringing back our Window Repair Workshops! APL will walk you through basic sash and frame repair, glass-cutting, and reglazing, June 25th at 2pm!

Allentown  buildings, like their Lehigh Valley neighbors, feature original wooden sash windows. There are a lot of misperceptions about the value of these historic windows built with dense, durable, irreplaceable old-growth wood. The advantages of keeping them is not merely æsthetic, but is also cost effective and environmentally sustainable.

Every individual part of these windows is repairable and when maintained equally or nearly as efficient as modern replacements. A historic wood window can last for hundreds of years! Modern vinyl replacement windows, which have twenty-five year lifespans or less, have to be thrown away and fully replaced. With some basic tools and skills, most of their maintenance can be done by any determined homeowner.

Join us for this class which covers all aspects of window repairs.

If you’re interested to learn more (or not convinced about maintaining wood windows), check out the information  herehere, and here.
